Gwen Stefani has already racked up 20 million album sales with her No Doubt band mates but now she's ready to step out on her own.
Gwen Stefani is one of the most unique artists of recent times. She can switch from performing on stadium tours across America with Blink 182 to playing Leonardo Di Caprio's girlfriend in the forthcoming Hollywood epic, 'The Aviator', to singing on a Grammy-winning hip-hop anthem with Eve.
Gwen releases her hugely anticipated solo album 'Love Angel Music Baby' on November 22nd. It's already being talked about as one of the must-have albums of the year. The album includes collaborations with the legendary Dr Dre, The Neptunes, Andre 3000 from Outkast and Dallas Austin.
First single from the album is the hugely anticipated 'What You Waiting For?', released on November 8th. Gwen wrote the eighties-inflected dance track with Linda Perry. On 'What You Waiting For ?' - against an irresistible club beat - Gwen sings about her nervousness about launching a solo career.
Well now the wait is over. And this is just the beginning...
'Super hot female' Gwen Stefani makes her debut as a solo artist with the explosive release of her album 'Love, Angel, Music, Baby' on November 22 through Interscope Records.
'Love, Angel, Music, Baby' is rhythmic, rebellious, fierce, funky, confessional and emotional. Gwen says "I was looking to make a specific record that would be everyone's guilty pleasure. There was no room for anything but singles on the album"
Following No Doubt's Rock Steady tour Gwen decided to take a year off and do a side project. That's how the process started and it snowballed from there. As well as working with fellow band member Tony Kanal, Gwen hooked up with an all-star cast who represent everything from New Wave to hip hop. Included on the album are ; Dr Dre [Rich Girl], The Neptunes [Hollaback Girl], Dallas Austin [Cool], Andre 3000 [Bubble Pop Electric / Long Way To Go], Tony Kanal [Luxurious / Crash], Linda Perry [What You Waiting For / Real Thing], New Order [Real Thing], Wendy and Lisa [Real Thing], Eve [Rich Girl].
The album kicks off with the out-of-the-box smash single 'What You Waiting For' and closes with 'Long Way To Go' a duet with Andre 3000 about inter-racial love. The blending of skills and influences on 'Love, Angel, Music, Baby' makes for a sonically adventurous album. "This record is a collaboration of a lot of great talents coming together and trying to make something that's classic. Something that you want to listen to over and over," Gwen explains about the project's overall intention. "I want the album to be the record of 'now' and to give people some kind of satisfaction and release."
