My Baby

My Baby, Dutch Blues Driven Hypnotic Dance band has played over 350 shows in the last three years and created an impressive international fan base. My Baby is a myth, a muse. It rocks, touches, locks, strokes, trashes. My Baby was born in the small hours of a red moonlit night in Amsterdam in 2012. Brother and sister Joost and Cato van Dijck fused their futures and blended their souls with accomplished slide and blues guitar player Daniel 'DaFreez' Johnston (NZ) to invent the spells and potions that make up the songs played by My Baby.

What My Baby sounds like? Electrified country blues boogie meets the repetitive beat of voodoo drums. Psychedelic African riffing and cascading folk melodies fuse with chants and gospel harmonies. All the traditional elements are stripped down to their core and then blended to form their own brand of music we like to call "Delta Trance" or "Louisiana Dub". A blues informed style with a leaning towards the avant garde.

In December 2013 they released their debut album 'Loves Voodoo!' (Embrace Recordings) and started to spread their magical hypnotic voodoo blues beats in many countries - building a loyal and growing following with their entrancing and compelling live show with gigs at Eurosonic / Noorderslag (NL), Zwarte Cross (NL) and tours in The UK and New Zealand in 2014.

In Summer 2015 they toured Europe to promote their second album 'Shamanaid', released in May. The album was played on BBC Radio and Belgium Radio 1. In strong demand at festivals such as Lowlands (NL), Into The Great Wide Open (NL), Sziget (HU) and playing at no less than seven alternative stages at Glastonbury 2015. They were chosen by Seasick Steve as the opening act on his April 2015 UK tour.

2016 seems to bring only more success. My Baby won an Edison Pop Award, a prestigious music award in The Netherlands, in category Alternative with their album 'Shamanaid'. A new headline tour in The UK, Denmark and The Netherlands is planned, of which the Dutch tour almost got sold-out, Their show in Paradiso, Amsterdam in December got sold-out within a month.

Also many shows on (main)stages at the bigger festivals in The Netherlands and Europe (Paaspop (NL), Dauwpop (NL), Down The Rabbit Hole (NL), Zwarte Cross (NL), Pohoda (SK), Gentse Feesten (BE), Colours of Ostrava (CZ)) took placet his summer. The biggest national radio station for pop music (3FM) called the band "one of ten acts you should see this year". After playing their first show in Switzerland (Gampel Open Air) this year Swiss National Broadcasting Organisation 'SRF' named My Baby the biggest highlight of the Saturday of the festival. Also the band got their music into the Swiss charts immediately after the festival.

At the moment the band is working on a new album.
