Bad Parents are a two piece from South London made up of Misty Miller and Tom Shelton. At the end of a difficult time with her previous record label, Misty was finally set free in 2016 and she and Tom immersed themselves in Hank Dog's South London music scene. Falling in love with music again and re discovering the joy of playing live and collaborating with other musicians through jamming and improvisation, inspired the two to create a band with that ethos.
The EP was recorded with Margo Broom at Hermitage Works Studios in
London. Bad Parents often play as a duo but for the EP they
invited their talented friends to play on the tracks and a lot of what
you hear on the record was what each musician came up with that day.
They held their EP release show at The Windmill in Brixton (which has
always been like a second home to them) and the musicians that played on
the recordings appeared on stage, including Dan Lyons, Sam Shelton,
Annaliese Garratt and of course, Hank Dog.
The single 'You Can't Date A Model' from the Bad Parents EP received enthusiastic support from BBC 6 Music and Radio X, and was Steve Lamacq's Livener throughout May. This summer the band will be appearing at Green Man Festival and Bestival.
