David Armada is a South-East London born and raised artist, whose unique sound is unlike anything in the current landscape. As a child he watched 2 generations of musicians in his family create era-defining music, inspiring him to take up the mantle. He remembers peering through the window of the garage of his grandparents’ home in Portugal, watching his uncle (a member of Portuguese rap group ‘Black Company’) practice and produce music that would reach the ears of millions. Growing deep in the belly of a cultural melting pot in South London, he uses music as his language of choice to communicate his experiences and gain a better understanding of his beautiful yet harsh environment.

As someone who pulls from various mediums, David is heavily involved in all output from the production to the videos and beyond. This allows him to curate a strong, singular creative vision that like-minded people can connect to and see parts of themselves in.

The music itself is deeply honest and often painful. Weaving together themes of heartbreak, addiction, trauma, and institutional oppression, David presents a tapestry of emotion reflected in the sound; elements of rap, uk garage, r&b, neo-soul, and jungle are found in his latest project. His rapping is influenced by the swagger of uk artists such as Skrapz and Potter Payper with the lyrical/thematic depth of Earl Sweatshirt and Kendrick Lamar. Vocally, he pulls as much from Frank Ocean as Thom Yorke and bares his emotions in the manner of Elliott Smith.
