Ivor Novello Award winning Mysie returns with her most genre-defying and innovative work to date. Two years in the making, Mysie has challenged herself creatively and technically to release her debut co-produced mixtape ‘CONTROLLA’. Here we see Mysie push herself into a new space, straying from the intimate indie soul of her previous work to produce an energetic, dance-oriented project. Mysie’s new sound is defined by her London upbringing where she conveys how subcultures and genres meld and collide on the city’s dance floors; she points to House, Electronic, UK Garage, Pop and Jersey Club as key influences. The project’s singles ‘LITTLE TOO LATE’, ‘PHASES’ and ‘KITTY ON TOP’ have seen strong press support from NME, Wonderland, Notion, Clash, among others. As well as radio support from BBC Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, and Radio 6 Music.
CONTROLLA is an authentic expression of Mysie’s creative freedom and control; it takes us on the journey of an artist freed from any creative restrictions. Independently produced, Mysie directed every step of the process; from co-producing tracks to setting the sonic and visual identity.
Looking forward and armed with an infectious new sound, CONTROLLA proves that Mysie can’t be confined to one genre. She is always pushing her boundaries, always experimenting.
