"An amalgamation of genres born in the club but not tied completely to it" - is how Shygirl has described her sound.
South-East London born and raised 'Shygirl', Blane Muise is far from defined by her name. Shygirl is not an alter-ego but a collective of personality traits which can take her to the next level with no repercussions.
Born from long-time musical influences and exploration of sound, Shygirl is radiated outwardly by her creative flare and ostentatious performance style. Additionally she is highly renowned for wielding hand-held fans and her everchanging hair choices.
Her final 2019 release 'BB' sees the UK artist reunite with producer Sega Bodega for a frenetic, club-ready track that she explains is "about finding the good in your bad traits." Her debut EP 'Cruel Practice', released last year on NUXXE (the label she runs with Sega, Coucou Chloe and which recently signed Brooke Candy), saw her labelled as "the Regina George of grime".
With tracks like 'O', 'Uckers' and 'Rude' in her discography collection, the musician and DJ is taking charge of the live music scene. Between creating her new and electrifying sounds and collaborations, Shygirl was busy performing globally through 2019 and recently announced her first headline show in London with a fantastic sell-out rate.
In Shygirl's world, "time is precious". She hates when people waste hers, and it shows in a dark, seething persona that combines venomous lyricism with tar-boiling industrial beats."" (Pitchfork)
