Hailing from Glasgow, TAAHLIAH came to music production quickly after starting to DJ. Driven by her dissatisfaction with the music she was hearing at parties, she started creating her own edits; layering warped vocals atop hard dance tracks and morphing mainstream pop tunes into experimental club-ready anthems. Her original productions finally took centre-stage with the release of her mini-album Angelica in the summer of 2021 via London label untitled (recs) which went on to win Best Independent EP/Mixtape at the AIM Awards. Throughout Angelica, the producer details a range of autobiographical experiences that have come to shape her as a person and an artist. Always, as TAAHLIAH seeks to represent and bring visibility to her community, she invariably ends up conveying universal messages of power, acceptance, bravery, and euphoric fun.

In 2022, TAAHLIAH released a trilogy of singles further establishing her artistic freedom. From the pounding hard dance of Bodies featuring Luca Eck to the anthemic pop song Fall Into Place toplined by vocalist Tsatsamis, via her facetious IDM collaboration with Loraine James Fuck It!. Crystallising a new dawn in electronic music, TAAHLIAH constantly seems to challenge the idea that fun and experimental are antonyms. Nothing expresses that better than her viral Boiler Room where mainstream EDM & the sharpest edge of contemporary electronic music cohabit on a tracklist that reads like a manifesto for dance music’s future.

This unrestrained approach permeates all areas of TAAHLIAH’s career including her choice of live performances. She has sold out the institutional Southbank Centre for a one-off collaboration with the London Contemporary Orchestra, as well as playing European clubbing flagships such as Fabric, Razzmatazz, Dour Festival or popular music havens like Latitude Festival and Sziget.

Beyond her career as a prominent DJ & producer, TAAHLIAH is a personality to be reckoned with as she proves weekly on her podcast The Dolls Discuss, co-hosted with her friend Lourdes – or when she has sat in for Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC 6 Music.
