SIX40TWO is the brainchild of John Newman.
Whilst John has achieved billions of streams, multiple awards, and climbed to the
top of the ranks globally, his love for dance music and club culture has always
stayed persistent.
In 2020, John took a break from his solo career — both creatively and in terms of
exposure — to rediscover the things that drove him at the start of it all. Sure
enough, he did. He came back with a new live show and new records, all rooted in
his dedication to dance music and inspired by what the kid from Yorkshire always
wanted to achieve: DJ’ing, performing on every instrument, and producing across
genres that were all somehow touched by dance.
Since then, John has gone on to take the biggest stages in dance music by storm,
headlining most of what’s out there with his high-energy, dance-driven hybrid
show. But even that wasn’t enough.
SIX40TWO is his new alias — a space that allows John to fully break away from
the brackets tied to his passport name. It’s where he dives into the darker side of
his euphoric club tastes, blending that energy with his wide-ranging influences —
gospel, soul, and older samples that shaped his sound.
When it comes to live performance, SIX40TWO is strictly a DJ show, standing
apart from John’s hybrid or live band shows under his solo name.
The first single under SIX40TWO, “Something In The Water,” has just been
released, with a second one to follow in the coming weeks — and shows now in
the works all over Europe and the UK.
