Dead Combo were formed in 2003 by an invitation of Henrique Amaro, from Antena 3 radio, to record the track 'Paredes Ambience', included in the homage CD to the genius of the Portuguese guitar Carlos Paredes, 'Movimentos Perpetuos - Musica para Carlos Paredes'.

Dead Combo are Pedro Gonc?alves and To Trips. They incarnate two characters that could have come from a comic book: an undertaker and a gangster.

Their albums have been critically acclaimed in Portugal and abroad, having had their first - 'Vol. 1' - included in Charlie Gillet's list of best world albums in 2005; 'Lusitania Playboys' was awarded "the record of the decade" in 2008 and all of their albums were awarded records of the year by several important publications in Portugal.
Dead Combo was featured in the Lisbon episode of 'No Reservations' by Anthony Bourdain. Their music was the soundtrack for the whole episode.
In subsequence, three of the albums reached the top 10 on the North-American iTunes charts for several weeks.

'Lisboa Mulata', released in 2011, was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Album from a band. This record was complemented by the work of the American guitarist Marc Ribot.

In 2012 the band released their albums in France. They were invited to perform at Cannes Film Festival at David Cronenberg's film premier.

They also performed in MAMA Event, a specialized Trade Music Fair which gave them the opportunity to perform in French Festivals, theaters and clubs on the following years.

'A Bunch of Meninos', the band's seventh album, reached number one in Portugal's charts, Spotify (Portugal) and iTunes (Portugal).
The songs 'Rumbero' and 'Lisboa Mulata' were included in the motion picture 'Focus' (2015) by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa featuring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Rodrigo Santoro.

Dead Combo was awarded a Golden Globe in 2015 by the Portuguese audience on 'Best Band Category'.

This same year they present at European Big Bang Festival invitation their children show creation: 'A Cidade da Tristeza Profunda / 'The city of profound sadness'.

In 2016, they released their EIGHTH album 'Dead Combo e as Cordas da Ma Fama, where they perform their original songs together with a trio of strings.

In 2017 they toured the four continents, highlighting the shows in Spain and Cape Verde, the Cappadox Festival in Turkey and the great concert in New York, for which they invited Marc Ribot to play, in the Summer Stage Festival held at Central Park.

Dead Combo is a cult band in Portugal and headlines frequently several major summer festivals in Portugal such as NOS Alive, Super Bock Super Rock, Paredes de Coura, among others.

The highly anticipated new album, 'Odeon Hotel', is the first as Sony Music Portugal artists. Recorded and Produced by Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, Chris Cornell, etc), it includes special participation of singer / songwriter Mark Lanegan, that brings his unique baritone deep voice to the track 'I Know, I Alone', a beautiful poem by Fernando Pessoa.

This new record sums up quite cleverly the perfect match between the Portuguese traditional sound and the universal vision that already exists on Dead Combo's songwriting.
