From releasing her first single ‘i see us in heaven’ in early 2020 aged just 15 (immediately picked up and played by Huw Stephens on his BBC Introducing show), releasing three more wonderfully woozy alt-pop gems and being selected as one of the final five in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge search capturing hearts and ears along the way Cathy Jain’s version of lockdown has been unique. And now as things creep towards normal, whatever that means, she can’t wait to step out and take her songs into the real world.

Sonically, Cathy Jain sounds like a lazy summer evening, relaxing under the setting sun. Minimal beats and chilled, meandering hooks abound with rich vocals and layered harmonies for days. Lyrically, Cathy Jain says of her music “I think lots of people, especially those my age, will relate to the theme of fakeness vs authenticity and how people present themselves to each other. In a way, all four of my singles so far are centred around this concept but present the message in stylistically different ways.”
