Chloé Robinson is thriving, basking in her new era of techno and house as a celebrated DJ and producer who remains at the forefront of the global club scene while continuing to build a flourishing rave family through her Pretty Weird label and curation series.

Her ethos is simple; keep it moving, but always make it fun. It’s a realisation cultured from formative years immersed in the grime and dubstep scenes of Birmingham and London under her previous alias Barely Legal, now gloriously distilled into a bountiful new period in style and effect as Chloé Robinson.

Her productions dutifully nod towards her composite rave influences, while carving out a fresh new sound and purposefully miles away from the stoic monotony associated with certain corners of the dance. Instead, it’s a raw and direct club flow; tunes loaded with funked-up 909 jams and smattered MC chatter that bounce and shuffle in certified dancefloor glee. DJ sets simmer in an even more expansive realm, displaying a core love for UK club styles while also dovetailing into modern techno and house sounds.

She’s held long-term residencies on BBC Radio 1Xtra and Rinse FM, recorded two entries for the BBC 1 Essential Mix while maintaining a regular presence in the booths at Fabric London (where she’s hosted room 2 with Pretty Weird multiple times) and Manchester’s Warehouse Project, Hï, Panorama Bar, Sonar, Brooklyn Mirage, Circoloco DC10, Glastonbury, Crssd Festival, Parklife, Polifonic, Snowbombing, Magnetic Fields and many more clubs across the globe. She has recently been nominated for Mary Anne Hobbs Icons mix of the year on BBC6 Music, after headlining her All Queens stage this Summer at Field Day.

Pretty Weird is her record label and party series, building a loving rave family around her and the sounds she holds dear. 13 releases deep, the label was responsible for Chloe’s production debut in the Steamin EP in 2022 (which featured a sensational remix from Four Tet) and now counts artists like DJ ADHD, Nikki Nair and more as part of their thriving community. It doubles as a global party series, hosting stages across the UK, EU and America including places like Glastonbury, Outlook, Lunchmeat in Prague, Boothstock Rotterdam, Coalesce, SW4 and MOS Weekender.

Her next year is stacked, coming off the back of showcasing her Pretty Weird crew across America for the second time this Autumn, alongside label alumni Nikki Nair and DJ ADHD with sold out shows, after an inaugural tour back in February of this year. Chloé also supported Chris Lake and Fisher’s “Under Construction” which saw them shut down Hollywood BLVD in front of 12,000 people. Releases wise, 2023 saw successful EPs on Chris Lake’s Black Book Records shorty after the iconic BLVD show, Fabric Originals, HE.SHE.THEY. and forthcoming remixes on Mella Dee’s Warehouse Music , Four Tet’s Text label, Ninja Tune and Boysnoize Records. A tour of Australia and Asia is also forthcoming, alongside a packed schedule of music incoming on Pretty Weird also.

Chloé Robinson’s enduring success demonstrates her crucial role in the wider dance music culture in her multi-faceted work and art, proving she’s only getting started in her new era.
