Marianne Faithfull: 'A Life On Record'
Published to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the release of her groundbreaking debut 'As Tears Go By,' this is the definitive book on Faithfull, one of the most beloved singers of the twentieth century. As a folk singer in London, Marianne Faithfull was discovered in a coffeehouse by the manager of the Rolling Stones in 1964. Over the five decades since, her work as a musician, her performances as an actress on stage and screen, and her influential personal style have made Faithfull an undisputed icon of pop culture. Edited by the artist herself, with accompanying handwritten captions, this book represents a personal collection of images that tell the story of her life from her explosive early success in London, and her infamous relationships with Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, to her rise as an actress and her collaborations with artists as diverse as David Bowie, Nick Cave, and Beck. The book spans Faithfull's evolution from an impossibly fresh innocent who sang like an angel, to the gorgeously mature woman she is today, whose deeper voice and mesmerizing appearance reveal a life full of rich experience.
Including never-before-seen snapshots from Faithfull's personal collection, specially commissioned photographs of her home in Paris, and iconic images by many of the world's best-known photographers Steven Meisel, David Bailey, and Anton Corbijn, among many others this is a revealing celebration of an extraordinary life in popular culture.
Marianne Faithfull's new album 'Give My Love to London' will be released in September 2014. The album is produced by Rob Ellis & Dimitri Tikovoi and mixed by Flood. The band: guitars by Adrian Utley (Portishead), keyboards by Ed Harcourt, Rob Ellis (drums), Dimitri Tikovoi (bass) + string quartet, and special guests Warren Ellis and Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). Marianne has written the majority of the lyrics with music written by Nick Cave, Anna Calvi, Roger Waters, Pat Leonard, Tom McRae and Steve Earle.
In the autumn, Marianne Faithfull will kick off a world tour which will last over a year, celebrating a career of fifty years of performing and touring. In May Marianne was revealed as the face of Saint Laurent Music Project.
"What I love best is making records and performing." Marianne Faithfull

Ben Watt: To Be Joined Onstage By Pink Floyd's David Gilmour
Ben Watt used Twitter last night to announce that Pink Floyd's David Gilmour will be playing on three songs at his London show next week at Islington Assembly Hall on Monday May 19. The rare appearance follows Gilmour's cameo on Watt's recently-released acclaimed album, 'Hendra'.
Having already assembled the album's original band for the first time for the date, including ex-Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, the addition of rock titan Gilmour is an unexpected bonus.
"We met by chance last September just before my album," says Watt. "It has all just fallen into place since then. First the album cameo and now this. He came down to rehearsal today to play pedal steel on 'The Levels' - the album track he's on - and now he's joining in on three.
His lead playing is just great. It is an honour to be up there with him and Bernard Butler at the same time."Watt and Gilmour have already recorded and filmed a different acoustic version of 'The Levels' together earlier this year at Gilmour's studio on the south coast that was premiered by Q Magazine.
