Kate Tempest: New Album 'Everybody Down'

Big Dada are pleased to announce the signing of Kate Tempest to the label with her album 'Everybody Down'.
Kate is best known as a poet, perhaps a performance poet or a spoken word artist. She also has a novel coming out next year with Bloomsbury. But ask Kate what she is and she's more likely to say she's a rapper. That's her true and first love. More of Skinnyman than Seamus Heaney, more of Deal Real's legendary Friday night rap battles than a book signing and reading at Foyles. 'Everybody Down' has twelve "chapters" telling one long, inspired story, a unique, one-off project and comes produced in its entirety by Dan Carey (Bat For Lashes, M.I.A + Hot Chip).

    The result is a revelation.

The Bloody Beetroots: Featuring Tommy Lee 'RAW' Video Premiere

There's only one artist coming out of the electronic scene right now who's embodiment of music, art and culture provokes a movement in itself, that artist is Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo alias The Bloody Beetroots and his new endeavor only drives his pioneering dominance even further.
His latest vision set to premiere on Feb 14th 2014, Valentines Day, is the explosive video for The Bloody Beetroots feat Tommy Lee 'RAW'. The single is taken from his second artist album 'Hide' which was released with critical acclaim on Ultra Records / Sony Columbia in late 2013.

Directed by award winning video director Agata Alexander who's previous credits include the music video for Destructo 'Higher', HARDfest trailers and also collaborations with likes of Marilyn Manson and Clint Mansell, the video features Sir Bob himself and founding member of Motley Crue, Tommy Lee. In true rock and roll style Rifo and Lee are not only performing in the video but then go on to obliterate the warehouse space, set in downtown Los Angeles. Meanwhile the song itself captures the punk-rock spirit, which is what Rifo and Lee are both so well known for.

From one-man studio production to full live band shows with The Bloody Beetroots LIVE, Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo is a pioneer, reinventing the landscape of electronic music.
See artist's page for tour dates.

Ivy Lab's new track 'Live On Your Smile', taken from their new 'Missing Persons' EP on Critical Music, is Friction's 'Fire Track' on BBC Radio One. Released on 24th February.

Already declared by Backdrop as one of the best drum & bass releases you're likely to hear in 2014, Ivy Lab's 'Missing Persons EP' is nothing short of sublime; a collection of work from Sabre, Stray and Halogenix that'll simply take your breath away. Featuring their mainstay vocal collaborator Frank Carter III on the title track, Ivy Lab carry us from sumptuous, warm liquid through to acid tinged tech with Emperor's input and finish with some west coast, lo-riding electro crunk. Essential is an understatement.

The Preatures: New Single 'Better Than It Ever Could Be'

The Preatures release a new single 'Better Than It Ever Could Be', available to purchase on iTunes. Singer Izzy describes the song:
"Jack had this riff that we were jamming around. We kept throwing it out and being a bit dismissive of it - it's so classic but we thought it was cool and didn't want to see it go to waste. I'd been listening to a lot of Bowie, particularly the 1977 record 'Low' he did with Brian Eno. 'Sound and Vision' is one of the tracks on the record and it's like Bowie's little ode to writing and making music. So I guess I wrote 'Better Than It Ever Could Be' as a bit of an answer to 'Sound and Vision'. I liked the idea that imagination is as good as it gets, that there is always something lost in the realisation of an idea, but the loss is kinda joyous in its own way."

    Karin Park: New Single 'Shine'

Continuing to reignite the electronic scene with her own injection of dark, synth driven pop, Karin Park is regarded as Scandinavia's hottest new export and now into 2014 proudly delivers the her new single 'Shine'; dark, poetic and deliciously romantic.

As a Grammy Award winning 6 foot plus Swede raised in the jungles of Japan, Karin Park's sound and live performances can be hailed hypnotic and fantastically toxic; captured by a fan's comment after the latest sold out show at Berghain, Berlin in September.

"I felt a whole new scope of emotions i couldn't even begin to define..."

Now following on from her critically acclaimed "visually striking and emotionally stimulating" album 'Highwire Poetry' produced by Christopher Berg (Fever Ray) and Barry Barnett, 'Shine', continues into 2014 where the dark side of love and poetically induced dance music meet.

Occupying a notably creative space somewhere between the lines of live electronics and more endearing deep slow-burning club jams, Karin Park's new single 'Shine' is a heady throbbing 4/4 mix of deep grooves that maintains a breathless pace and a unique sound.

Karin Park has done only a few, but carefully selected collaborations in the past year and her vocal appearance on 'Everything' marked a key collaboration between Karin and acclaimed DJ/Producer Maya Jane Coles, a noir tale of ornithological obsession. The video's director Thomas Knights also responsible for some of Karin's recent and most striking photo shoots.

The package also includes remixes from hotly tipped Brighton foursome Let The Machines Do The Work, Lovegrove and rising UK Stars Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo.
