    The Libertines: At Glasgow Barrowlands

The Libertines have announced they will be playing at Glasgow Barrowland on Sunday June 29th as a warm-up for their headlining shows at Barclaycard British Summer Time at Hyde Park on Saturday 5th July and the Benicassim Festival in Spain on July 19th. The Libertines last played Glasgow Barrowland ten years ago on the 2nd March 2004.

Tickets for the Barrowland show go on sale at 9:00am on Friday 30th May from www.gigsinscotland.com / telephone 08444 999 990. They will be limited to two tickets per person and will require photo ID. The venue will refuse entry if you can not provide photo ID.

The Libertines debut single, 'What A Waster', which Peter Doherty described as being "the most self-explanatory song in the history of pop" was set free in June 2002. 'Up The Bracket' was released as a single in September and hit the Top 30 and was followed by their debut album, also entitled 'Up The Bracket' (produced by Mick Jones - The Clash).
'Time For Heroes' was unveiled in January 2003 and saw them performing on T.O.T.P for the first time. Their fourth single 'Don t Look Back Into The Sun' ensued in August 2003 and was produced by Bernard Butler (Suede). A second album, 'The Libertines', was released in August 2004 and entered the UK album chart at #1, spawning the top 10 singles 'Can t Stand Me Now' and 'What Became Of The Likely Lads'.

Both Peter Doherty and Carl Barat have gone onto have highly successful solo careers as well as with their respective bands - Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things. Peter Doherty, who is currently on tour in Europe, released the highly acclaimed third Babyshambles album, 'Sequel To The Prequel', last year. Carl Barat has just formed a new band, recruited via the internet, called Carl Barat & The Jackals, who release their debut album in September.

The Libertines are Peter Doherty - vocals/guitar, Carl Barat - vocals/guitar, John Hassall - bass guitar and Gary Powell - drums.
