The Pop Group: New Single 'War Inc.'
All proceeds of the new 'War Inc.' single will be donated to Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) to help with the incredible work they do in war zones throughout the world. In 2015 they provided over a million consultations across war torn regions of Asia and Africa, and also provide nutrition and psychological help to hundreds of thousands of vulnerable, innocent civilians.
The Pop Group set out their stall for 2017 with the release of their single 'War Inc.' from their vital new album 'Honeymoon On Mars'.
'War Inc.' sees The Pop Group formidably mobilized by the heavyweight maximalism of Public Enemy architect Hank Shocklee. Befitting the song's theme of warfare and the avarice of those who stand to profit from it, the track coalesces around a punishing crossfire of industrial brunt and volatile noise, as driven, explosive and audacious as anything The Pop Group or Shocklee have put their name to. With Mark Stewart's vociferous loudspeaker tirades and Gareth Sager's acutely distressed guitar distortions punctuated by a recurrent vocal cut-up that alludes to iconic ragga and 90s Bristolian jungle, the track maintains the band's capacity for adventurous admixtures of influence, whilst delivering a much-needed message of savage, perceptive fury.

Young Fathers: New Single 'Only God Knows'

Here's the story behind Young Fathers and their involvement in Danny Boyle's 'T2: Trainspotting'.
Young Fathers and the prolific novelist Irvine Welsh first met in 2015, when Welsh was making TV documentary about creativity in their mutual hometown, Edinburgh. Director Danny Boyle discovered Young Fathers shortly after their 2014 Mercury Prize win.'T2: Trainspotting', is Welsh and Boyle's recent feature-length film and sequel to 'Trainspotting' (1996) both adaptations of Welsh's critically acclaimed written works, 'Trainspotting' and Porno. 21 years later, their mutual appreciation for Young Fathers landed six tracks on the film's score - 'Low', 'No Way', 'Dare Me' - and soundtrack - 'Get Up', 'Rain or Shine' and 'Only God Knows'.
Young Fathers got word on 'T2' features while working in the studio with Los Angeles-based producer Dave Sitek. The guys brought one of the demos back home to Edinburgh, met up with Boyle to tour the 'T2' film set and then finished the song with the voices of the Leith Congregational Choir, because there's "nothing like singing with your aunties."
And really that's when any relation to the film goes out of the window, because 'Only God Knows' is the most beautiful, soaring, crazy piece of punk-gospel you'll hear in 2017, like being shot out of a cannon into the greatest atheist church in the universe, like dying and being reborn without even realising it's happened. Because we're all alone in the end anyway, so give yourself a chance.
The single 'Only God Knows' is out on 24th January as a download & one-sided 7".

The 1975: Nominated For Two Brit Awards
The 1975 have received two nominations at the BRIT Awards 2017. The Manchester four-piece have been nominated for British Group as well as the prestigious MasterCard British Album of the Year for their critically-lauded second album 'I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it'. The band will also be performing at the BRIT Awards on 22nd February at The O2 Arena in London, where they recently performed to sell-out crowds.
'I like it when you sleep...' debuted at #1 in both the UK and US chart, with sales of over 900,000 to date and was one of the top six shortlisted Albums of the Year at the prestigious Mercury Prize 2016, also winning the public vote. It was named Album Of The Year in Q and NME and featured prominently in end of year reviews.
The 1975 have recently announced their biggest US headline show to date at New York's legendary Madison Square Garden on 1st June. This follows their recent sold-out arena tour of the UK which included two triumphant nights at the O2 Arena in London - the first of which sold out in less than 3 hours.

Following a breakthrough 2016 which saw them sell out London's Scala, fill tents at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and Latitude, ink a US deal with Canvasback / Atlantic and release a run of critically acclaimed singles, Blaenavon are pleased to share news of their long awaited debut album, 'That's Your Lot' - alongside the music video for brand new single, 'Orthodox Man'.
Recorded with Grammy-winning producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele, Bjork) the LP marks a certain milestone for the band - a sumptuous, thrilling and brave collection of songs written throughout their teenage years and now fully realised. Intensely personal, yet exploring the universal experiences of friendship, sadness, hope, love held and lost, and all the confusions of youth - a body of work to help define a generation.
'That's Your Lot' includes 'I Will Be The World', 'Let's Pray' and 'My Bark Is Your Bite' - a more than impressive run of singles championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, NME and Fader, whilst collectively racking up over 1,500,000 Spotify streams.
The album will also feature explosive new single 'Orthodox Man', Blaenavon's most immediate moment to date and already a firm fan favourite following a series of incredible live performances. The song's accompanying music video was shot by director Francesca Consarino during the band's first trip to New York City for two packed out shows in the Winter of 2016.
The band is also excited to share details of a new headline tour in support of 'That's Your Lot', which includes a landmark show at London's Heaven on April 7th.
Blaenavon will also be joining Sundara Karma on their UK dates, before a lengthy run throughout Europe with Two Door Cinema Club. A fulsome Summer of festival appearances awaits thereafter, in addition to further international touring.
2017 will see Blaenavon come of age as the most exciting act in the country, and beyond.
