Irish-born, and now Glasgow based singer-songwriter Martha Ffion announces new album entitled 'Sunday Best' which will be released on Turnstile in early 2018. To celebrate the news Martha Ffion has also released a track from the album - the wonderful 'We Make Do'.
'Sunday Best' is by far her most adventurous and accomplished work to-date, the lush instrumentation bringing her detailed lyrical vision to life through a series of gleaming guitar-pop songs that drift between soft-centred balladry and something altogether more cutting and forceful.
It's perhaps true to say that our relationship with music is steered solely by connection. Sometimes that's a very direct thing; the words we sing along to relatable to our own desires and experiences. Occasionally, however, it manifests itself in other ways, a captivation drawn from something we can't conveniently place or pigeon-hole; songs and sentiments we watch from afar, trying to find a way inside.
Martha Ffion's work has always flourished within the latter of these two paths. While her Irish roots and current home city of Glasgow have undoubtedly informed her work, so many of her songs resonate all the more for feeling wildly devoid of time and place, an alluring cast of characters drifting in and out of focus, each one examining Ffion's own thoughts on what it means to be "good" in a society that has such determined expectations.
Initially breaking through with a 'postcard single' on Scotland's flourishing Lost Map label, Ffion's reputation soared with last year's 'Trip' EP, a swooning five-track collection that was released by Turnstile Music (Cate Le Bon, Gruff Rhys, Charlotte Church, Emmy the Great etc.) and championed by GoldFlakePaint for its "beautifully melodic sway".

Contact14 Nov, 2017Rene LaVice: New Track 'Woohoo'
Fresh off the announcement that Rene Lavice is now taking over Radio 1's tastemaking drum & bass slot, his forthcoming single on Ram Records has been hijacking club speakers worldwide. One of his most riotous tracks to date 'Woohoo' provides a snapping follow up to hearty vocal roller 'Let You Go' ft. Jareth, once again acting as a pedestal for his unbridled levels of creativity.
Time after time Rene has ensured he's continued the same levels of production which saw him first signed to the Ram imprint. And after two critically acclaimed LPs and Radio 1 A-list addition, he's remained at the top of his game. 'Woohoo' is a testament to that, more reminiscent of his earlier tracks 'Where My Ladies At' and 'Insidious' and it demonstrates how despite his more commercial output, he's still able to tap into the darker flipside of his discography.
With crackling, reverberating snares and a thumping bassline, 'Woohoo' crashes forward alongside an undeterred attitude. Siren-like in its intro, you're instantly pulled through a chasm of slickly layered beats and Rene's sampled call to arms punching its way through the mix. If you're looking for a record that'll take pride of place within any club-lead set, Rene LaVice has delivered, showing his penchant for dancefloor records which are just as intimidating in home speakers.
The third LP from Rene LaVice has been slated for early next year and with it comes a brand new package filled with more additions to an already stellar back catalogue. And following an extensive tour schedule, which will see him perform at the Ram 25 world tour dates, across Europe's biggest venues, he remains at the pinnacle of his career.

A quick-witted and crisp '70s throwback, Awate's Jewels video takes viewers on a blaxploitation-inspired escapade.
Directed by Saoud Khalaf, the film includes dramatic martial arts, spy equipment, rolling papers used as ninja stars and a shining Black Power fist. Its themes reflect battles Awate faced whilst creating his debut 'Happiness' LP, a project he wrote whilst on bail.
'Jewels', the first single from 'Happiness', builds on the rapper's reputation for witty, sophisticated hip hop. It featured as The Line of Best Fit's 'Song of the Day' and DLSO's 'Tracks of the Week'.
The song has also received praise from the Independent Music Podcast, Sonic Mag and the Heart to Art Podcast, with radioplay on KISS, Pyro, Fubar and Triple J.Fresh from supporting Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and Talib Kweli in October, Awate drops the video right before his size? Session on 9th November, at the retailer's brand new Camden store.
With striking lyrics, psychedelic beats from producer, Turkish and visuals like these, Awate has firmly placed himself as an artist to watch for 2018 - being announced as one of The Great Escape's 'First Fifty Artists' for next year's festival.

Their debut album 'Live For The Moment' was released earlier this year to fantastic critical reviews and entered the official UK charts at #6, an outstanding achievement for a debut album and the biggest selling debut album for a band this year. The Sherlocks have also recently announced their biggest UK headline tour to date.
"It's an honour to be invited by Liam Gallagher to support him on his European Tour. We've all grown up listening to Oasis, so it's a big deal for us. He's a top man to be around as well. It's gonna be a mega tour & we're looking forward to getting out there!" Kiaran, The Sherlocks.
Full dates for both tours are below:

Contact01 Nov, 2017Shabazz Palaces: New Video 'Since C.A.Y.A.'
Shabazz Palaces have delivered a powerful new video for 'Since C.A.Y.A.', the elastic and transportive track from the group's acclaimed 'Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star'. The new visual stars Shabazz Palaces' Palaceer Lazaro with footage shot by director Kahlil Joseph, cinematography by Marcus Reposar, and is helmed by returning collaborator Stephan Gray ('Dawn in Luxor').
DIY calls the 'Since C.A.Y.A.' video "glitchy and disquieting... The Thundercat - featuring track gets a black and white visual to match; all crashing waves, pixelated distortion, foreboding tunnels, and writhing snakes."
'Since C.A.Y.A.' features dazzlingly funky bass licks by the magnificent Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner and was produced by Knife Knights (aka Ishmael Butler and Erik Blood), recorded and mixed by Blood at Protect and Exalt Labs: A Black Space in Seattle.
