DaM FunK: New Album '7 Days of Funk' With Snoop Dog
Stones Throw are pleased to announce the release of '7 Days of Funk' - Dam-Funk and Snoopzilla aka the legendary Snoop Dogg. The album is set for release December 10, 2013 on Stones Throw Records.
"We're the babies of the Mothership," says Snoop. "I've had funk influences in my music my whole career. Dam-Funk is cold. He's keeping the funk alive and I knew I had to get down with him."
The King of Modern Funk meets the smoked-out scion of G-Funk on the '7 Days of Funk' album, where Snoop performs under the name Snoopzilla, the homage to the legendary funk master, Bootsy Collins, who often went by the moniker Bootzilla. After an initial chance meeting two years ago, Dam and Snoop began to collaborate when Snoop invited Dam to perform with him at a 2011 SXSW show the musical connection was inherent.
"Snoop knew what I was thinking without me having to articulate it. That's how you know when you gel artistically with someone," Dam-Funk says. "These beats were made for him and he laid down some of the smoothest harmonies and melodies I've ever heard. It's hip-hop, but you can also hear what we grew up on, from Zapp to Evelyn 'Champagne' King and Patrice Rushen."
As an entertainment icon, there is little Snoop hasn't accomplished. The Long Beach legend has sold over 30,000,000 albums, and received 15 Grammy nominations, but at heart, the funk has inspired many tracks through his career.
Growing up at the other end of L.A. was Pasadena's Dam-Funk. Since his 2009 debut, 'Toeachizown', the Stones Throw - signed visionary has defined modern funk music this isn't a fad for him, it's a way of life. He's the new vanguard of a tradition encompassing George Clinton, Roger Troutman, Prince and Snoop Dogg himself, who helped pioneer G-Funk with Dr. Dre.
The single 'Faden Away' is available now on Itunes & Stonesthrow.com.

Bernard Butler Confirmed To Play On All Dates Of Ben Watt's November Solo Uk Tour
With his recent return to songwriting and guitar-playing triggering an unexpected new solo studio album due for next spring produced by Ewan Pearson, Ben Watt is now excited to announce that current collaborator and acclaimed guitarist Bernard Butler will be joining him on the whole of his upcoming November solo tour of the UK.
"Bernard was one of the first people I turned to when embarking on this new road," says Watt. "His grainy sound in the perfect foil to my new open-tuned approach, and when he played unannounced on the recent sold-out London shows in August, it was just a great fit. He is playing a prominent role on the current album, and now to have him play with me onstage on all of these November dates is fantastic news. The combined sound is incredibly atmospheric and heart-felt. An amazing backdrop for the songs."
The tour - which showcases much of Ben's new material and revisits several songs from his very early days - starts in Bristol on Nov 11, and ends after five back-to-back nights in Birmingham on Nov 15.
Don't miss these two great guitarists and performers together.

Dub Pistols: New Album & UK Tour
Dub Pistols return with their sixth album and accompanying UK tour.
One of the most rock & roll acts out there, Barry Ashworth's merry band of reprobates - the unstoppable Dub Pistols - are staying true to form with their sixth long-player. It's called 'White Lines', although Barry is keen to stress that the title isn't some sort of blatant drug reference. "It's about the number of white lines we see on motorways and at airports when we're travelling around all the time," he says.
Bass. The Dubs continue to be one of the busiest bands on the circuit.
Seemingly no music festival is complete without their riotous blend of ska, dub, hip-hop, electro, breakbeat, punk and drum & bass. Good times are guaranteed when the Dub Pistols blaze in to fire up the joint, and they'll party all night - if you let them - until the motorway sun comes up with the morning light.Over they years the Dubs have earned their ticket to ride the white line highway - and if you aren't already hooked, baby, it's nobody else's fault. They originally grew out of the DJ sound system that Barry Ashworth started with cohort Jason O'Bryan in the mid-90s.
Along with contemporaries the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim, the Dubs initially surfed the late '90s big beat wave with tracks like 'Cyclone', 'Westway' and 'There's Gonna Be A Riot' before swerving into the more political 'Six Million Ways To Live' album after the Millennium and their first hook-up with unforgettable Specials frontman Terry Hall.
The procession of guest vocalists who've joined them in the intervening decade or so reads like a roll call of urban legends. UK hip-hopper Rodney P, late reggae great Gregory Isaacs, Freak Power man Ashley Slater, Beats International's Lindy Layton, acid house original Justin Robertson, the sweet tones of Horace Andy, UK rapper Akala, TK from New York, Red Star Lion from the West Indies, Dan Bowskills... the list goes on. Despite these top collaborators, they've somehow still managed to remain a cohesive unit, and it's for their riotous sense of fun, entertainment value and tireless ability to make crowds jump that the Dubs have carved a niche for themselves. Verily, they're something of a phenomenon.
'White Lines' is more of a party album than the conscious vibes of previous LP 'Worshipping The Dollar', and also has its fair share of top-notch guests. Reggae don Earl 16, eminent hip-hopper Seanie T, Dark Horizon, Rodney P in-demand rhymer Serocee - as well as regulars TK, Darrison, Sir Real, Ashley Slater and Barry Ashworth himself on vocals - all make an appearance, as well as the dubwise horns of Tim Hutton,
The band will be hoovering up motorways as they tear around the country this autumn:
