Killbox: New Release 'Witchmaker'
The work rate of Ed Rush and Audio's collaborative project is intimidating even for the most technically advanced producer. Their debut self-titled EP was released at the start of 2017 and they've followed this definitive release with 'Clickbait', a track which cemented their position as dancefloor annihilators and studio geniuses.
Now comes the duo's third output, arguably one of their most fierce to date, proving why fans were right to be excited after the announcement of Killbox on renowned imprint Ram Records. Although what else can you expect from a pair who have decades worth of experience between them and who remain figureheads of the drum & bass world's murkier waters.'Witchmaker' further solidifies Killbox's reputation as a crushing heavyweight force. A carefully manufactured introduction into chaos, 'Witchmaker' ramps up at a dizzying speed, firing quickly processing beat patterns and nastily peddled drums from every direction. It once again demonstrates how uncompromising the duo are. Killbox aren't afraid to submerge you in their no-holds-barred approach, continuing their ascent pathed with every one of their nastily slick productions.
It's time to return to the refined yet monstrous sounds of Killbox, a production outfit who are just as formidable in the studio as they are behind the decks. With a host of high-profile festival appearances this summer, as well as more stellar releases sitting in the pipeline, Ram Records' darkest recruits continue to build on their solid foundations.
Released on 28th June.- Contact

The Horrors: New Single, Album & Tour
The Horrors release their stunningly assertive fifth album 'V' on September 22nd.
The album has been previewed by the first single 'Machine' which sees the group at their majestic, imperial best, although the ten tracks on the album are so diverse that when the final song and future single 'Something To Remember Me By' appears to channel dance, trance and '80s pop genres it feels like both the most natural thing in the musical world and also the most surprising. 'V' shows the group at the peak of their powers, exhibiting a freedom and sense of exploration that feels truly liberating.
"It is a risk," says Faris Badwan discussing the band's bold refusal to stand still. "But life isn't much fun without risk. It's the antithesis of being creative if you know what you're going to be doing every time."
Keyboardist Tom Cowan continues: "It's natural, if you do see yourself as an artist, to progress and not play it safe. Bowie pre-empted the modern condition of not being able to stay in one place for very long, and I get frustrated with bands who stay still. Because then it does become a career."
The album artwork comes from talented VFX artist and director Erik Ferguson, who is known for his abstract and intriguing creative vision.
'V' was recorded in London with producer Paul Epworth, who has worked with FKA Twigs, Lorde, Rihanna, Adele, London Grammar, Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, U2 and Paul McCartney, amongst many others.
The Horrors have recently supported Depeche Mode on tour. The group will play a small show at London's Omeara on July 11, followed by the Latitude Festival on July 14, a UK festival exclusive for the band.
The Horrors will tour the UK in October, followed by Europe in November & December. Uickets on sale Friday June 30, see their artist page for details.- Contact

Desert Planes: New Single 'Hot Cars In The Sun'
Desert Planes release their new single 'Hot Cars in The Sun' June 23rd through LAB Records. Produced by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, Clean Cut Kid, The Coral), at Liverpool's Parr Street Studios, 'Hot Cars In The Sun' is an infectious, hook laden slice of indie-rock.
Speaking about the track, the band explain, "'Hot Cars In The Sun' came together by experimenting in the studio and jamming out the ideas. We wanted to try and conjure up something with a hint of nostalgia."
Previously a two-piece the band have now expanded to become four adding guitarist Simon Bloor and bassist Dominik Hayman to the line-up. Desert Planes have previously released two singles, 'Wake In Fright' and 'Together Apart' on Killing Moon Records. Both garnered support from BBC Introducing London and Radio X and online tastemakers alike.
The London based band have spent much of the past 12 months honing their live craft with shows around the UK, including supports with the likes of Spector and KYKO.

TOKiMONSTA: 'Don't Call Me' (Feat. Yuna)
TOKiMONSTA, the inventive LA producer born Jennifer Lee, just released her excellent Yuna collab 'Don't Call Me', a song that manages to merge elements of a low-key R&B kiss-off and a maximalist trap production without clashing. Today we present the song's video along with news of a new album, 'Lune Rouge', and a world tour.
The album is named for the "red moon" phenomenon that carries ominous meaning in various cultures around the world, and the 'Don't Call Me' video is suitably eerie, with Yuna clones proliferating as TOKiMONSTA controls shifting supernatural landscapes.

Cold Specks: New Single, Video & Tour
Today, Ladan Hussein, known on stage as Cold Specks, shares 'Wild Card', a track taken from her forthcoming record due later this year. The new single by the Somali-Canadian songwriter was shaped by selflessness and the strength of refugee women. "The sparse arrangement was written before the vocals and melodies," says Hussein. "Those things came after I had visited my mother and noticed her frantically phoning people up. There was a man in my family's store, a new refugee, who had travelled from Somalia to Canada. By water and by foot he had travelled halfway around the world to establish a better life for himself and his family who were still at home. My mother had never met him before. He was a complete stranger from a familiar place. She took him to a local restaurant, fed him and found him somewhere to stay. I was astonished by her selflessness and kept humming 'I'll be there for you. Don't know why'."
'Wild Card' was produced and mixed by long-time collaborator Jim Anderson at Easy Life Studio in Toronto, with Tim Kingsbury of Arcade Fire performing bass.

Spiral Stairs: European Tour Dates
Scott Kannberg, aka Spiral Stairs (founding member of Pavement and Preston School of Industry) recently released his new album 'Doris and The Daggers'. It showcased the most personal and emotional music Kannberg has ever written, reflecting the life changes that occurred over those eight years. During that stretch, Scott weathered the loss of friends, treasured the joys of fatherhood, lived life as an Australian and even ate haggis meat - experiences that inform these warm, sweetly melodic and soundly honest songs.
Kannberg is now pleased to announce a 24-date European headline tour.

Trailer Trash Tracys: New Album, Video & Tour
Over the course of their lush, strange album 'Althaea', London duo Trailer Trash Tracys condense a number of disparate styles into music that thrillingly broaches the void between figuration and abstraction.
While undeniably beautiful and quite often infectious in parts, this is certainly not pop music by any traditional definition; rather, it appeals to the more intuitive of mind and wild at heart. More than simply becoming a philosophical exercise however, the result is their most ambitious and idiosyncratic body of work to date, one which operates at the very limits of what pop music can be.Their debut, 'Ester', released in 2012, manifested the band's approach to making music as a fine balance between chaos and order, laying out a dense and dreamlike ecosystem of Sufi poetry, Solfeggio scales and, floating above it all, Susanne Aztoria's otherworldly yet emotionally charged vocals. Early singles such as 'Strangling Good Guys' and 'You Wish You Were Red' proved to be outliers - rather than simply making lo-fi dream pop, the band were instead aiming for something far more subconscious and esoteric.
With 'Althaea', the band continue their investigations into the farther flung reaches of pop music, with stunning results. Spanning 10 deeply esoteric tracks, 'Althaea' sees the band drift further afield from traditional song structures to create a new aural lexicon of their own, one as influenced by Filipino carnival music and Latin rhythms as it was by Japanese tropical music from the 80s. Even at their most outwardly pop - the pristine 'Eden Machine' for instance, or the swooning 'Kalesa', there is a baroque splendour, and heightened sensuality. The interplay of light and dark, the foreign and the familiar, brings forth an album with manifold pleasures, one which rewards repeated listening and further exploration.
'Althaea' is released on 11th August on Double Six, see their artist page for September / October tour dates.

Kuenta i Tambu: Tour Bus Fire Appeal
"What started as a promising weekend tour in UK with scheduled performances in Cornwall and Bedford, ended unexpectedly on May 28th, 2017 with a major tragedy for our band.
While traveling from Cornwall, after a memorable night of performing at our first concert of the weekend to a repeat concert in Bedford, our beloved band bus (a.k.a La Senora) had an engine failure and caught fire along the M5 Highway. Absolutely everything from instruments, passports, phones, laptops, iPads, cherished personal belongings to our complete stage setup including our beloved bus burned down completely.
We are grateful and thankful to be unharmed, but saddened to witness our beloved band bus, instruments, and most of our personal belongings burned down to ashes. Unfortunately, we are only receiving a fraction of the worth from our insurances. Many of our things and most of which hold great sentimental value to all of us, are irreplaceable. Some of this gear belonged to us for more than 15 years.
To be able to perform at our upcoming shows we are luckily able to borrow some instruments and equipment from our dear friends and colleagues. However, our traditional instruments will have to be made by hand and shipped from Curacao.
We hope, with a little help from our friends and fans, that we can look to replace some of the equipment we have lost. We've set up a crowdfunding so we hopefully can replace this equipment soon. If you feel like helping us, by sharing this crowdfunding and help us spread the word, we would be incredibly grateful.
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Forever grateful,
Roel, Diamanta, Daniel, Danny, Yariv, Vijay, Jovani en Daniel"

Star.One: New Track 'Okay'
UK "new age soundsystem" duo, Star. One, present 'Okay' (featuring Maleek Berry & Seyi Shay) their debut single for 3 Beat.
The hybrid nature of British music in 2017 owes a lot to the 'DIY' nature and creativity of a newly thriving soundsystem culture in the UK.
Right at the vanguard of this nascent resurgence are Star. One, championed by MistaJam, Target, 1Xtra, Noisey, Huw Stephens, Pigeons & Planes, Fact, Phil Taggart, and beyond. Brothers Joe and Adam describe themselves as a "new age soundsystem", whereby the music they make, and the parties they throw, blur the lines between UK garage, grime, and bass music, while taking influences from the past 50 years of British black music. 'Okay' is a great example of this, merging old school UK garage production with the Nigerian stylings of Afrobeat stars Maleek Berry and Seyi Shay.- Contact
